In modern life, many teenagers spend most of their time sitting down. We sit in classrooms for hours, sit to do homework, and sit to relax. Because of busy schoolwork and lazy lifestyles, more students hardly exercise at all. Few people know that a sedentary lifestyle is very harmful to both our physical and mental health.
First, no exercise weakens our body and immune system. Exercise helps our blood circulate faster and makes our muscles and bones stronger. Teenagers who never exercise get sick more easily. They often catch colds, feel weak, or feel out of breath after simple activities. Without movement, our bodies become stiff and less energetic, which makes us look tired and unhealthy every day.
Second, staying sedentary for a long time negatively affects our body shape and posture. Many students develop problems such as hunchback, neck pain, and back pain at a young age. These problems are caused by sitting too long without stretching. If we ignore them, these small pains will become lifelong health issues.
Besides physical problems, lack of exercise also hurts our mental health. Exercise is a natural way to release stress. When we move our bodies, our brains release happy chemicals that help us relax. Students who never exercise are more likely to feel anxious, frustrated, or stressed easily. They also feel more tired and bored with daily study and life.
Getting exercise does not require hard training. Even simple activities work well, such as walking after dinner, stretching between classes, or playing sports for thirty minutes every few days. Small exercise can greatly improve our health condition.
Overall, exercise is necessary for teenage growth. A lifestyle with no exercise slowly ruins our body’s energy and mood. By keeping up a little exercise every week, we can stay strong, relaxed, and healthier in our daily life.
